SOUTH AFRICA: MPOFU SEES OVERWHELMING VICTORY FOR EFF

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) commissar for special projects Dali Mpofu

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) commissar for special projects Dali Mpofu yesterday said the organisation would achieve an overwhelming victory in the forthcoming general elections.

Mpofu said the party was aiming for a 100% victory margin in order to have seats in the National Assembly and fill every provincial legislature. “One thing we are sure of is victory. Anything between 51% and 100% will fit,” Mpofu said.

He was addressing reporters at a media briefing in Centurion outside Pretoria.

Mpofu joined EFF in November last year after resigning from the ANC.

EFF’s commissar for political education, policy and research, Floyd Shivambu, said people would vote for the party in big numbers.

He insisted that EFF leader Julius Malema would become South Africa’s president after the upcoming polls.

This was despite the decision of the North Gauteng High Court to provisionally sequestrate Malema for the debt of R16m in unpaid taxes.

“We have more than 500000 members and we are not in a crisis,” Shivambu said.

“Whoever thought of preventing Malema from going to Parliament will not succeed. We are speaking as a government-in-waiting and you will be seeing us very frequently.”

EFF national coordinator Mpho Ramakatsa announced that Malema was the organisation’s candidate for a member of Parliament and president of the country.

EFF would continue with its programmes and activities towards an elections victory.
